If they flat out say, "oh, trainers are fine", PC microtransactions instantly end for anyone that can find and utilize a trainer. Consider the simple fact that even if they know that they won't take any action against the use of trainers, it's in their best interest not to confirm anything for you. While I am a bit concerned about whether or not using trainers will get users banned, the response isn't particularly disconcerting.
The fact that Square Enix won't confirm as much is disconcerting. I was however referring to SP only when I sent the email to them. The issue here would be that the trainer circumvents the microtransaction system in singleplayer, which is silly considering the previous titles in the franchise, as well as MOST single player games do not penalize the player for how they modify the title they purchased, so long as any modifications don't extend to singleplayer. Keep in mind, no one has yet faced any problems from this title using trainers, however, continue to use them with caution, at least until we can get some better confirmation. I DO still believe this holds true, however I sent an email to SE to confirm and they refused to do so.
Generally, as long as the cheatengine/trainer isn't open while connected to a MP game, you are safe. I advocated the use of MrAntifun'S Trainer for the singleplayer component of DXMD.
